One of the slogan of Community Change Initiative is “Pregnancy is not a disease and no woman should give up her life while giving birth” Nigeria account for less than two percent of the global population but it bears a large burden of the world’s maternal mortality, of the 289, 000 maternal deaths estimates to have occurred globally i 2013 40, 000 (representing 14 percent) occurred in Nigeria. Many of these deaths occurred due to unhygieni delivery conditions by unskilled birth attendants and lack of delivery kits by the pregnant women. Provision o. delivery kits “mama kits” serves a triple purpose: it is an incentive for expectant mothers to seek ante-natal care
in healthcare facilities; it also takes off some of the nancial burden of antenatal care and delivery and it come in handy in emergencies when delivery must be conducted outside the health facility. It is due to the importance of this kits that made CCI to initiate a project to provide delivery kits to expectant mothers in some part of Nasarawa State, Borno State, Niger State and FCT. 600 delivery kits have been donated so far by CCI.
